Blair's First Thanksgiving!

Quick Note: I started this blog post earlier in the week but never got around to posting it. Between chasing Blair around and trying to get the Christmas decorations out, blogging took a backseat. Even more so than usual.

Last week we celebrated Blair's first Thanksgiving! I got off work early and met Travis and Blair at home where we kicked off the long weekend with our new tradition of having Italian food the night before Thanksgiving.

Thursday morning we took flowers out to the cemetery for Gaga. Then we headed to Mimi and Pops' house to start cooking. We cooked and played all afternoon together and ate one of the best Thanksgiving dinners I have ever had. Everyone helped with different dishes and we feasted. The turkey was a 28 pound bird! The classics are there; turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes & gravy (my favorite gravy my Dad makes!), green bean casserole, and macaroni & cheese. This year we added corn casserole and sweet potatoes. I am still off sweet potatoes since early in my pregnancy with Blair, but Travis loves them. So I made those too! I made my first ever pumpkin pie for Travis. Dinner was awesome... I am thinking we need to do that meal again in a few months.

On Sunday we went to Gammy and GranDad's to celebrate and got to visit with Aunt Andressa and Daniel. Jourdan and Loren also came home for the weekend, so we got to see a lot of our family! George and Roslyn made a spread of brisket, chicken, pasta salad, beans, the works! After a yummy lunch we played with Blair while watching the Texans game.

Here are some pictures from the weekend! Four blissful days to spend with my favorite people.

I am very, very thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving (from a family full of LSU die hards!)!!!

My sweet, sweet little girl in her new jammies. Love this little girl to pieces. I think she looks like Auntie Loren when she was a baby!

Hope you and yours enjoyed your Thanksgiving too! :)

More Teeth!

Two more of Blair's teeth cut today- her top two teeth!

Blair had spent most of the day playing at Gammy and GranDad's and they mentioned that B had woken up from a nap wanting to chew on toys. Sure enough when we got home, I checked her upper gums and the two top teeth were poking through!!

Update : Blair's Ears

So an update on Little Miss. Yesterday, Travis took her to the doctor to see how her ears looked after this (second) round of antibiotics. She was acting more and more like herself, she seemed over the cold, and was sleeping better. The only problem was she was still pulling at one of her ears and we knew that wasn't a good sign. There was good news and bad news. Dr. Kavin said that her ears were looking better, but that there was fluid in one of them. Sigh. My baby has been sick for so long and we just want her to feel better. Dr. Kavin said we needed to do another round of the Omnicef to help it clear up. Sigh again.

While getting back to her old self, Blair is crawling like a pro. She gets better every day. I find it interesting to watch her go from laying down on her back, to rolling over, to sitting up.

We have started to give Blair those Gerber "puffs" to snack on before she eats. She's getting pretty good at eating them, or at least swallowing them. She is still only 1 for 3 (actually making it into her mouth), but tries hard and is enthusiastic. Blair is still eating tons of yogurt. I found a peach & squash Yobaby yogurt duo that she likes, so it has added more variety. I also bought the Yobaby drinkable yogurt so she can take it from a bottle as a good snack. Travis and I bought the Earth's Best "Gourmet Foods" variety pack for Blair to try. They have flavors like "Chicken Mango Risotto" and "Tender Beef Spinach." We are still trying to expose her to all flavors and textures. She is not a fan of peas, green beans or garden vegetable blends. Win some, lose some.

We are getting so very excited for Thanksgiving! I cannot believe it is TOMORROW! Where has the time gone? I can't wait to celebrate this holiday with Blair. Thanksgiving is one of my favorites. It reminds me of being a kid, living at home, cooking dinner with my whole family in PJs, watching football and spending good ole family time together. We actually still do that, though these days it involves "spirits" and all day eating / snacking prior to the big event. Tomorrow we will be at Mimi and Pop's house celebrating Blair's first Thanksgiving! I have pulled out her own little Thanksgiving dinner of baby food. She is getting Turkey with Sweet Potatoes, Macaroni and Cheese, and Mixed Vegetables. The closest thing to pie we have is Peach Cobbler, so she will probably have that for dessert. Speaking of dessert - I made my first pumpkin pie for Travis! I hope it tastes good!

Here are some pics taken over the last week or so!

Busy B in her walker

Concentrating on those Gerber puffs

She turns over the toys to see where their music / sounds come from. Cute.

Those legs. They are so stinkin' cute.

Looking for where the sound is coming from (again)

Still loves the bouncer

Rolling around

Helping Daddy in the kitchen... despite her positioning in this picture, she has gotten really good at going forward (when she started she only went backwards, if at all).

She ordered Da-da (everything is da-da right now... all conversations on her part involve "da" and "da-da" and the occasional high pitched squeal) around the kitchen, wooden spoon in hand.

Raleigh made a major mistake leaving his bone unattended. She made a bee line for it!

Sorry the picture is blurry, but it is adorable!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Girl

Yesterday, Mimi picked up Blair from school to get some "B" time. This picture cracks me up because, 1) she is always making silly tongue faces, 2) her hands are blurry because she never stops moving, and 3) a Gerber puff is stuck to her bib. Classic.
It was a busy Grandma week for Blair! Gammy picked up Blair on Monday to play (and GranDad even took off the afternoon from work), and then Mimi got her on Wednesday. Such a lucky girl to get to spend cuddle time with her grandparents! :)

First Visit to the Park

Yesterday we did a little family lunch date, then took Blair to the park for the first time. She. Loved. It.

Daddy pushing B in the swings (and still a little unsure, so she held onto him at first, just to make sure it was ok).

Hello blue eyes!

I had to practically lay underneath her to get those silly grins... but it was well worth it. She loved the swings!

Love.

Excuse the drool. It was exciting and I forgot to put a bib on her.

The flying Blair!

Swinging with Daddy

First time down the slide!

Well, there you have it. First trip to the park at 32 weeks old. Wish it wasn't nearly so hot in Houston so we could've done it sooner... but yesterday was perfect.

The Owl Hat

How could I forget to post these adorable pics? Couldn't you just eat her up?

The owl hat. I ordered this from a store on Etsy. I had planned to put it in Blair's Halloween basket, but they sent it certified to the post office and we couldn't get over there in time. Anyways, she has it now! Isn't it so cute? ♥
