1st Solids
Today we let Harlow try rice cereal and she loved it! She successfully ate about half the small serving. The rest ended up everywhere, but we had fun trying something new!
A weekend at Moody Gardens
A few weeks ago, my company celebrated its 10th year by hosting a family weekend at Moody Gardens in Galveston. It was such a fun weekend and the girls had a blast!

It took me 15 pictures to get this guy looking at the camera. Not sure who is worse - a 3 year old or the monkey.

Harlow - 4 months
Four
Months. In some ways it seems like such a short period of time, but in others
it feels like Harlow has been with us forever. She is the perfect fit in our
family. This past weekend we were in Galveston, staying at Moody
Gardens for my company’s anniversary weekend celebration. It was Lo’s first big
family vacation (Blair’s was when we visited New Orleans at 6 months old) and
she did awesome. I mean, awesome. She is very laid back and as long as she is a
part of the action (or sitting up watching), she is happy as a clam. After her
amazing demeanor and me constantly asking Travis, “how did we get so lucky with
this?!?” – then, light bulb! Lo is just like her Daddy was as a baby. She is so
good natured and sweet, just like Travis was (is!). That’s not to say her big
sister wasn't also incredibly sweet – but B definitely required more attention
in different ways and became easily over-stimulated by certain situations.
This
girl can SMILE. Her whole face lights up when she sees someone’s face. She has
the sweetest coos and she and I have some pretty interesting conversations. I
just love her sweet little sounds… this is such a fun age!
At four
months, Miss Harlow Bug is loving her excer-saucer, loves to put toys or lovies
in her mouth (thank you, teething), baths – especially when she takes one with
Blair, laughing and smiling at her Daddy, being in the middle (or observing in
the very least) of the action, anything that lights up / plays music or is
soft, pulling / grabbing Mommy’s hair, and being tickled. Little Miss loves her paci - but only when she is tired (Blair = never).
Lo doesn't have many dislikes, however she does not like being in the car when it isn't moving (thank goodness she almost never sits in Houston traffic!) or lying
down on her back if there is “stuff” going on. She rarely cries, unless she is
in one of those situations or is really super tired.
She is
easily eating 6oz every 3 ½ to 4 hours and generally wakes up once a night for
a bottle. She is weaning herself off her swaddler, which is nice. Sometimes we
use it if she is overtired – but she usually breaks free sometime in the middle
of the night. After she wakes up in the middle of the night, we don’t
re-swaddle her. She prefers to sleep on her side, but often ends up on her
back. I started Blair on solids at 4 months, because I felt she was ready. I
don’t have the same feeling with Harlow, so I have decided to hold off for a
little bit. I am not worried about her development or anything like that, I
just want to be sure I think she is ready before we try it. We’ll try some
cereal in the next few weeks.
Harlow
can roll from her back to her tummy and pushes her torso up when laying on her
tummy. She isn’t much of a fan of tummy time, but she appeases me for a short
time. She is days away from “finding her feet” since she now lifts them up.
Lo has been
teething for the last month or so, and she is rocking a pretty sharp ridge on
her bottom gums, so I think it is matter of time before we start to see them
pop through. Despite chewing pretty hard on toys, she doesn't fuss and still
seems pretty happy. Her congestion is about 90% gone – yay! Poor girl has been
congested for months and we are finally coming out of it. We are so thankful
that Lo never got an ear infection with all of that drainage she had. Totally
different from Blair. It is so true when they say that each child is different.
One
really funny thing about Harlow is ALL of the different faces she makes. She
makes a lot. They are sometimes very silly and at other times, doesn't even
look like her.
Here are
some of her 4 month pictures, as well as other pictures from the month. I am
completely obsessed with this little girl and we love her SO very much!
